Top 3 Brands for 2021

3 minute read

Are you excited for 2021?

Are you excited for 2021?

The year 2020 has been horrendous in some ways but at least we have had this community to be a point for positivity during it all! Exploring new fragrances is one of the greatest joys for all of us, for example I only tried Creed Viking for the first time today and it is incredible.

However, where will School of Scent go in 2021? In was you guys didn’t know, I do not own every fragrance that exists! A tough question for reviewers is: ‘Which brands should we explore next?’

It is always a balance about what brands you guys are interested in as well as introducing us all to new scents that may need more appreciation! (for example, do enough people care about the Le Labo brand?)

In this blog, we will be exploring the three top brands that School of Scent is most excited to explore next year (tomorrow)!

3 - Comme des Garçons

What are your thoughts on the bottle design?

What are your thoughts on the bottle design?

CDG is one of those houses that is technically designer, but smells niche! They do not do ‘safe’ fragrances. They create challenging scents that re-create certain concepts in your mind in a strange way that combobulates a scent to your brain.

If I had to describe their style of perfumery in one word, it would be: Playful.

So far I have only tried black pepper, floriental and currently own Man2. For example, Man2 smells like masculine and dry wood shavings. It shouldn’t work but it does!

I feel this brand is filled with creativity that will excite people looking for ‘memorable’ signatures! I personally look forward to acquiring more bottles from CDG.

2 - Mancera

My no.1 compliment getter…

My no.1 compliment getter…

I want us all to appreciate this house more as the bridge to niche. They make high quality scents with usually beast performance at a price they should be at (which is more than can be said for a lot of other niche brands)!

One of my most complimented fragrances is Mancera’s Cedrat Boise, a top alternative to Aventus (although not a clone), I also have a clone of Red Tobacco on the way and I really want to try Instant Crush.

We all need to appreciate this house more for the honest business they conduct in the fragrance world!

1 - Penhaligon’s

Thoughts on the bottle design?!

Thoughts on the bottle design?!

Being a Brit, of course I had to mention Penhaligon’s! This is probably the best Fragrance House from the UK currently! Although some of their fragrances don’t perform well, this brand creates the most elegant scents currently around.

I can vouch for Sartorial being one of the best barbershop fragrances I have ever smelled and this brand is also known for creating legendary oud scents like Halfeti and the Uncompromising Sohan (which apparently is monstrous).

I hope we all get to experience a review of all these fragrances as well as the pictured Lord George, I also think this brand is very reasonably priced for the quality you are getting, (plus look at that bottle design!).

Finishing Thoughts

Overall, I think we have a lot to look forward to in 2021, we should all be excited for brand new releases coming soon as well. Which fragrance are you looking forward to trying most this upcoming year?

I hope we can all get through these trying times and I want to wish you all a Happy New Year!

Until next time,

Omar
