Five Reasons Every Man Owns Fragrance

Have you ever seen the movie Gladiator? If you have, you may remember a scene near the beginning of the movie when the Marcus Aurelius is speaking to Maximus.

“Maximus, let us whisper now, together, you and I. You have a son. Tell me about your home.”

Maximus replies, “My house is in the hills above Trujillo. A very simple place. Pinkstones that warm in the sun. A kitchen garden that smells of herbs in the day, jasmine in the evening...”

In this line, Maximus not only reveals details about his home in the smells that he describes. He reveals things about himself. He appreciates the simple things in life. He even ties some of his own emotions into the smells of herbs and jasmine.

Who would have thought that something as “simple” as a smell could be so telling. Maximus is definitely a man's man. But as men, fragrances do more than just add to our masculinity. Here are five reasons why every man should own fragrance.

1 - It gives you a different level of sexiness

It is a given that, as men, we want to be attractive to members of the opposite gender. We need that bit of sex appeal for everything from the date nights to the chance encounters with your crush. However, the sex appeal that fragrances inspire go far beyond how ladies perceive you. It will also make you FEEL sexy. You'll walk with more confidence, and carry yourself with authority.

If you want a new level of sexiness, I recommend you spray on some Tom Ford: Noir Extreme, an amazing blend of warm spices and amber. It sits relatively close the skin, making it perfect for an intimate outing

You could also go for Layton by Parfums de Marley. This may be one of the most complimented fragrances ever. It mixes a sweet apple top note with an amazing aromatic sandalwood and vanilla base.

2 - Having a good fragrance makes you unique

When someone smells your fragrance, there is a chance that it will be the first time that they have smelled that particular scent. The sense of smell is the most powerful sense of all, triggering memories and emotion. So, from that point on, that person will always attribute that scent to you.

If you want to be unique, try out Creed Green Irish Tweed. It may be a pricey bottle, but the scent profile is a masterpiece, smelling like a beautiful walk through the forest. It is a woody floral musk scent that will never be forgotten.

Another great fragrance would be Dolce and Gabbana K. This is a more affordable woody scent that hits more on citrus notes like Blood Orange and Sicilian Lemon.

3 - The way you smell will influence others

Think about what caused you to get into fragrances. More than likely, you smelled a fragrance from somewhere, or even caught a whiff of someone as they passed by. The curiosity got the better of you and here you are. Others will do the same when they smell your scent as well. You can be influential to others who may want to explore fragrances as well

If you want the scent that probably inspired most people, then get Creed Aventus...the king of men's fragrances. This smoky, pineapple scent has been the standard for years.

Another influential scent would be Amen Pure Malt by Thierry Mugler. It is cherry tobacco scent with a hint of whiskey and amber. It's one of the best to get someone into fall/winter scents.

4 - Your scent will trigger memories

As mentioned before, your sense of smell triggers emotion and memories. There are scents will take you back to your childhood or to that amazing vacation. Wearing the right fragrance at the right time will create memories, not only for you, but for others that smell what you're wearing.

If there is one smell that nearly everyone can love, it's the smell of the beach and the salty smell of the ocean. So, your top choice here will be Dolce and Gabbana Light Bleu Eau Intense. Spray it on during the summer and you're sure to get that beach vibe for the rest of the day.

Also, a great scent to trigger memories would be Dolce and Gabbana The One EDP. I know, there have been a lot from D&G here. But, this is probably one of the most popular date night scents ever made. It is an amazingly sweet scent, mixed with amber that will bring anyone back to their first date.

5 - Fragrance can tell your story

Everybody has a story to tell. The intricate things that make a person unique can actually be reflected in his choice of fragrance. But, in my opinion, these types of scents usually aren't found in designer houses. However, when you explore niche and indie houses, options open up much more. One indie house actually exists to tell a story.

From a small company called Imaginary Authors, comes a fragrance called “Memoirs of a Trespasser.” It is an incredible blend of Madagascar Vanilla, Myrrh, Guaiacwood and Oak Barrels…

The scent profile was inspired by the travels of Philip Sava, who went to exotic places and took in various sights and scents. Ultimately, the perfumer and owner, Josh Meyer, took Sava's story and brought about an incredible masterpiece.

This house is full of scents that tell stories just like this one, with such names as “Every Storm a Serenade”, “Cape Heartache” and “Whispered Myths.” While wearing such fragrances, you will be able to tell your own story in unique and dynamic ways…
