3 Fragrance ‘Hacks’ to Elevate your game

Now, hear me out on this one…

Now, hear me out on this one…

I’m not a master in the fragrance game, I’m a simple guy with a passion for this niche who wants to help as many of you out there as possible! But, over the years I have been able to acquire knowledge and tips to take my game to the next level! Hopefully these 3 tips help you out so that you aren’t making the same mistakes I used to make!

Tip #1 - Fragrance doesn’t last long enough?

Name me a more iconic duo, I’ll wait…

Name me a more iconic duo, I’ll wait…

This may not apple to Eros, but some fragrances are frustratingly short lasting! For example, if you want to lengthen the duration of something incredible like D&G the One EDP, moisturise your skin on the pulse points before you apply your fragrance!

I do recommend that the moisturiser is ‘scent-neutral’ to not interfere with your cologne and of high quality of course! I need to moisturise in winter time anyway and this just gives me more incentive to take care of my skin better! Fragrances don’t like dry skin, moisture and hydration help trap them in.

Combine this with combining fragrances on clothes and you will get more mileage from your fragrance!

Tip #2 - Make the most…of your Car.

This will make sense now, bear with me…

This will make sense now, bear with me…

Cmon now, I can’t be the only one who gets salty on the occasions that I leave the house without a perfume on! I’ll spend all day at work with no razzle dazzle to my scent, the day will lost that sparkle that only an art form like this can provide! Well, never again!

A fragrance ‘hack’ I wish I had known earlier was to store a fragrance bottle in the glove box compartment of your car! This has saved me so many times when I’ve left my place in a rush! There are big temperature and humidity changes in your car, so make sure the scent is something you don’t care too much about and isn’t too expensive. For example, I use Nautica Voyage as my glovebox fragrance.

Don’t own a car? Then this next tip is for you…

Tip #3 - The world of decanting…

You don’t have to be barred from the world of niche fragrances.

You don’t have to be barred from the world of niche fragrances.

This may be obvious to some of you, but a lot of people still don’t know about the world of decanting. This is when an individual (usually not the official brand themselves) store a small volume of a fragrance of their choice in a vial like above.

The advantage of decanting is that it opens up the world of expensive perfumery to you. I wish I had known this from the beginning! Creed Aventus for $400 is obviously out of my budget. But, a 5ml sample of Creed Aventus for $10 is suddenly within my limit and surprisingly lasts me a long time! (niche scents usually have better performance than their designer counterparts).

This can take your fragrance addiction to the next level and make you smell like the best smelling man in the room! People around you obviously don’t know if you have the full bottle or not and don’t care! This is also good for people who don’t own a car as they can store these tiny vials in their bags to ensure they never leave the house smelling ‘neutral’!

Finishing Thoughts

I hope these help you out guys! Which fragrance ‘tips’ are you aware of that you wish you had known when you started this journey? Make sure to share them below!

Until next time,

Omar
